    Hey Guys,
as I´m building Italeri´s (Ex-Esci) Horse drawn convoy at the moment,
ich had to try to paint the horses too.
So, this is my first try to paint a horse.
All painting, except for the leather parts (sorry, i don´t know the propper english word for it)was done with an airbrush.
Tamiya Redbrown overall, first schading with darkend redbrown, highlights with lightend redbrown and pure white for the white parts.
The shading is hard to see on the images, because i took the pics with the flash.
The first three pics show the horse painted, on the last three pics i applied a coat of future for the weathering.

    Painted:

Any comments and critics are highly welcome, as I´m still learning ;).

    Greetings!

I'am just a beginner in figure painting. But all i can say is that the colour and shading are good, but the paint is wrong.
I have never seen a horse that is shining.
You must use matt paint, no glossy paint.
Maybe you can try a matt varnish when the paint is dry.

I tend to agree with Marc. I like the color tones very much.

But, the coat should be satin. Look at photo's of real horses. If you are airbrushing you might want to consider some of the humbrol satins or spray a diluted satin coat after the paint.
Just a suggestion :) . I have not yet painted a horse myself...

Having painted a few horses in my miniature life I always use a diluted Humbrol satin for the horse. I don't cover the harness with satin tho. You have done a beautiful job with the blending of the white socks and overall did great up until you got to the "Future"...........I would back away from using Future and find a less shiny satin coat.

    Hey Guys,
first of all, thank you for the kind words!
The horse is far away from beeing finished on the pics ;)

I only applied future to seal the horse for further painting.
    Here are some newer Pics:

Still a lot of work to do ;) .
I messed up the white parts and need to redo them.

I hope you like it a bit more now

    Sehr gute "Ärbrasch"-arbeit ! :)

    Ok, next update:
i painted all the shadows and highlights so far, sealed the horse with dull-cote and sprayed the white parts again with very thin white paint.
Next is detail painting and overworking some parts.
Finally, the horse will get a satincote.
I hope to hear some comments, as I´m not sure if i like it or not;).

Hi Markus, I like your work. I would recommend looking at any Mil Mod pieces you can get your hands on by Steve Kirtley, for me he is the best at painting horses a real store of knowledge. (y)
