Hello,

This is my first post on this site and I would like to start by saying thank you again to all of the contributors (and a sponsor), for encouraging me to take up this hobby again after a 10+ year absence, I have literally started from scratch as nothing was left - not a single brush.

The work posted by all of you is inspiring - period.

This is the Model Cellar RFC bust - painted entirely with acrylics. At one time I was a pure oil / enamel user but these new paints are the way forward for me (I do not miss the stench of oil paint at all!). I have struggled with them and have to keep reminding myself - layers, layers, layers........

Thanks – Dan.

 Are you serious?! 10+ year absense and you paint THIS?! Very nicely done Dan.

Layers are the key to acrylics and I'm sure, soon, you will be painting without ever reminding yourself of anything.

Outstanding work on the leathers. The lenses are a bit bright fo me, but that's just a personal thing.
Keep them coming,
Carl.

Wish my first acrylic paintwork has look as yours.
Outstanding work on this beautifull bust by Carl Reid. The painting is awesome.
Unfortunally i couldn't get the hang of acrylic.

Great work for a 10yr break and switching to acrylics! I like the lenses, although the blue is a bit bright.

The face is fine as it is - I'm not a fan of the ultra-high contrast look that seems to be in favour at the moment, less is definitely more if you actually look at a real face.

Very good job particularly on the leather. Clever effect on the lenses although I'd be inclined to 'float' in a tinted glaze to tone it down a bit.
Regards
Derek

Hi!

I like your job, specially after 10 years of absense.
If this bust were mine I would change the lenses.:)

Hi Dan,

I like what you have done with our bust. Very nice! I especially like the lighter color leather coat and the even lighter color lining. - very convincing! It reminds me of a leather coat I once had =)!

Welcome back to painting - Keep up the good work!

Paul
