    Hi Guys

This is a great sculpt from our very own Steve " Valiant" Leadley a one off , he posted it as a WIP , I am going to "try" and finish for Bugle Call .

    Scale 1/10th approx

It depicts a Nursing Yeomanry lady approx 1908 after 1914 they were in a uniform of kharki .
She has a First Aid qualification on her left arm and a farrier badge on her right
    aaaa.jpg

    [IMG][IMG]

Just tidied it up a bit she will be primed in black first and then the face , the cap , the uniform and thats it !!!

I will dedicate this to a very brave woman called Muriel Thompson who won the Military Medal in WW1 for her bravery .
    aaa.jpg

Before the war, Muriel Thompson (1875-1939) was a keen motorist and in 1908 she won the first ever ladies’ motor race held at Brooklands. Uniquely over-qualified, she joined the FANY as a driver in January 1915. This required not only the ability to drive but also basic mechanical skills in order to fix the various vehicles used by the FANY. In 1916 she served as second in command to Lilian Franklin on the Calais convoy with the Army.
Her Military Medal and Croix de Guerre were awarded for courage under fire whilst moving the injured to safety during a German bombing raid in May 1918. Like many other F.A.N.Y's, she was awarded medals by the British, Belgian and French authorities.
Medals awarded to Muriel Thompson, 1915-18
Military Medal 1914-18; 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-20; Allied Victory Medal 1914-19 with oak leaf for Mentioned in Dispatches; Order of Leopold II, Belgium, 1914-18, Badge of the 5th Class; Croix de Guerre,

Interesting pic of the nurse on a bike - the lacing on the tunic is dark and the skirt seems the same colour as the tunic, not dark blue and there's no white band on the cap. Maybe an early khaki version, or a grey, perhaps.....?(y)

    Hi Steve

A good point certainly a possiblilty , as you have sculpted a riding instructors badge on her thought I would put The picture you said it came which looking at the hair inspired you for the sculpt! ....plus more pictures

Really enjoying this ..laying on the base colours ...very red at the moment or rather a red brown !

Might add a peak edge ?

Think she will be blue eyed and a darkish hair colour or maybe a blonde !

I so appreciate the text you wrote about those very courageous
women, British women who served so bravely in the Great War.
How fitting to remember also, these dedicated women who made such
sacrifices for the cause. . . and that they are now remembered
in this important new release. There are so many wonderful
examples of people stepping forward into harms way, that
should be an inspiration for us all. Rick
