The final last step was taken yesterday with the attachment of the Naginta blade to the Samurai after all the groundwork was completed. The Tori Gate was finished and pegged to the base and groundwork poured around the base. The last groundwork step was applying the Hudson & Allen Snow to create the effect of a light snowfall before the battle.

This has been a long project starting back in january but has been a very rewarding one to complete. The collector takes delivery at Next weekend's Tulsa Show.

All comments and critiques are welcomed.

Guy,

Just my two amateur cents, but I think that you have truly outdone yourself on this piece. Your attention to detail and realism is over the top!
I am sure that the collector will be stunned.

Speaking as someone who has painted both of these figures, I have to say what a great job you've done on this piece. They make a fantastic vignette, and the collector is a lucky man indeed.

Outstanding work

Ciao Guy,

As I mentioned to you this scene is truly outstanding. I echo the above comments. That is one lucky and happy collector.

I have also appreciated your detailed SBS on these and the end result shows all that hard work. Well done.

Best wishes
Franco

Excellent!! Looking forward to seeing it LIVE in Tulsa!

See y'all there!

Guy,
I recently painted the samurai with naginata, and it was probably the most challenging figure I've ever painted, so I can appreciate the work that went into this!! Nice job. I would only say that, if it's not too late, I would add a little more snow and dust it around a bit more evenly. Just my opinion, though. Thanks for sharing this project with us.

Many thanks for the kind words.

Jason ~ They are due for another light application of snow today. My wife agrees with you....:D

Excellent painting,Guy.
Beautiful result, the base is great, well done.
Thanks also for the detailed SBS on this one!

Congratulations.
A wonderful samurai.
Even Japanese can't express this much conversantly about samurai's military uniform.
Japanese was surprised, too.
Ordinary Japanese tends to be eager to know a story more than he has an interest in armor and a sword.
But when it's same, I think French all the members are conversant about a military uniform of Napoleon army.
Your work also contains "story".
I think a great work.

Amazing job Guy, a lot of work for sure! the wood base looks fantastic (very oriental style)
The only detail that I don't like too much are the blood stains over the snow, I guess is too much blood, but is my personal opinion the entire work is very well done...

Many thanks Mark ~ Mitsutaka ~ Ernest for the kind words and thoughts.

~Ernest~ When the collector and I first talked about this scene last November he specified lots of blood. He got lots of blood. I choose to show only a blood spatter pattern resulting from the arc of travel of the Naginta and of course on the weapons themselves.
