I recieved this guy in the mail yesterday and couldn't wait to get started on him. It's a great sculpt by Tim Bruckner, Tim does a lot of comic book figures and just recently started selling kits. I saw this one and thought he had great character.
It's the biggest piece I've ever tried to paint the head is 15cm from top to bottom.
So far I've just put down the base coat a few shadows and some red in the cheeks, the eyes have been started but still have a bit to go. Highlights still to come but a good fun bust to paint so far.

    Hope you like it,
    Andrew.

    Great work Andrew,
That's a giant. Don't overdo the shading and highlighting on this big one.

Thanks guys, I wish I could take credit for the eyes but they have been cast in a way which makes them extremely easy to paint, I'll try explain.
On most busts we see in our hobby the eyes are just sculpted as a smooth curved eyeball. This bust has the same smooth eyeball but the iris is recessed down a few millimeters and the pupil is recessed even further, it is almost as if they have been drilled out with two different size bits. The catchlight is sculpted on the same plane that the eyeball would have been on but attached to the upper eye lid so it almost looks like it's floating over the iris and pupil. That's about the best I can do to explain it, I'm sure it's clear as mud:confused:
Anyway it's something I haven't seen done before on other mini busts just large statues David comes to mind with the recessed pupils. The effect looks great and is a breeze to paint.

I'm getting it. I have the picture.
They should do that as a standard for every bust.:D
Should make live easyer for us painters.

    Hi all,
I need a little advice on this one I'm not sure if I have enough shadows and highlights, I think it's fairly close but because he is so big I know it has to be toned down a lot from the usual 1/10 busts I'm used to. Any advice would be really helpful. I took a pic of him next to a young bust to give you an idea of the size of the bust he has made me wish I had an airbrush.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

Hi Andrew, from a personal perspective, I would only add a little more to the very top hi-lites. Just to emphasise the skin 'texture'. Really like what you have done so far mate.

Hard to say really Andrew. I would redden the cheeks, tip of the nose and ears a touch more but that's just me.
    It's very impressive piece though,
    Carl.
