    Yes Darko,

still the polymerclay like fimo and my creall therm junior.

I only made some extra tools with round extention and use sharper brushes sometimes.

the hands are made from wire, twisted and touched with a mixture of thinner/ clay...

Wow, Rene, thanks for this thread, I'm finding it very helpful as I try to teach myself to sculpt. My hat is off to you!

Do you plan to use these as masters to make a mold and cast a finished figure in metal, or will the completed sculpt be the finished figure?

    Prost!

    Hello Brad,

    thank you!

I will tell you what I have in mind.
When I started sculpting it was merely the 1/16 or 1/9 scale I worked out.
As a figurepainter I personally like these scales, especially the bustes.

I was working on a buste recently and wanted some relief.
My old preference always went to the 1/35 scale figures which I presented on a vignet.
Being aquinted more to sculpting faces I was wondering how this would be transponded on small scale.

This topic shows some studies for myself, also how the polymer clay behaves on this scale.

at this moment, nothing defenitive is to be seen and still struggling for the right scale when applying clay to a skull.
Really tryouts actually and no likeness because I just make them up.

However..these little heads are much faster finished than the large scale.
I have five skulls ready to be prepared and have no worry they will turn out fine.

On other fora the heads in this topic serve some purpose for a little demo I will provide in Holland for people who like to see this once being done at the time.

but don't worry, what you see now will be a prelude to some figures I will try to cast.

I am showing some progress and will be doing a lot of thinking and sketching when creating postures in this scale or special era.

This surprises me, I'll have to try, well 1/16 at least, my eyes are not sharp enough for 1/35 ;)

not exactly Gordy, just some training to get this scale.

I postpone the casting of Goeths head and hat to have some more objects for the mall. Some friends around here I like to give some of the heads in time.

in some way my creatures every time time turn out as angry looking and twisted
...also good to have some difference.

    a barbershop no less...:)

    Gordy,

I try to imagine, in an atropological way how different countries provide different faces.

when thinking of German faces I tend to do them arrogant, like gentlemen with large noses and certain smirk on their faces.

When thinking of American soldiers, fatigued by moving on and exhausting battles I think I need a different aproach.

For studies like this I think of five heads each time because it occurs to me my hand is looking for the same lines each time.
In order to change this I think it's good to work from photo's to get some likeness.

as an illustrator I feel a bit obliged to capture some special expression too :)
    Most heads are so ...hm...'flat'

    but it's an interesting journey.

For the time being I chose this book as a reference:

    some casting.

    should be better.
Maybe less hardener and more resin so the liquid can 'work'.

    anyways...
