Hey guys, here are some updated pics, I think I'm pretty much done with the face.
I've started on the boots, the soles were done by laminating plastic card, also started on some of the equipment, spade and M1931 field flask.

Leigh,

My friend you are truly one of the unsung great sculptors! (y) I have admired your 54's and would like to see more of them again! ;) I eagerly await more pictures! The face and equipment are looking great! Keep up the great work.

Joe

Thanks for the comments guys, Joe, I'm very flattered, I feel as if I still have a long way to go and I'm striving for improvement all the time, perhaps after this one I'll finish one of those 54's ;)

Hi Leigh

Looking very, very nice there!!

The clean lines of his face are well in keeping with the subject matter, and I have to admire someone prepared to scratchbuild the equipment as well!!

EXCELLENT!

:)

Hey Leigh!

That is an awesome looking face, very nicely done. The equipment is shaping up nice, it is always hard to make somthing that has a set symetry and make it look spot on, but you are right on track so far. Keep it up!

Thanks for all of the comments guys :)
Symetry is always difficult where equipment is concerned, as well as the need to keep the items to a set scale.
Rob, I tend to go for the cleaner lines on most of my faces , I think it gives a bit more of a youthful appearance, which is paticularly suited for a young SS soldier in Normandy, by 1944 most replacements were probably only 17- 20 years old.

Thanks
