    Hey all

Finally got my new computer and camera sorted... more or less.

This figure is a 75mm Viking from Nocturna. Painted all in Vallejo and Dark Star (metallic) acrylics. The base is a chunk of soapstone, cut, polished and engraved (I use that term loosely). The water was sculpted with Magic Sculpt and painted in various blues, greys, greens and white.

The debate of the position of the boat in regards to the waterline has been flogged to death in the WIP thread of this figure. The sculpt of the boat is what it is, the water sculpted just gives a point of reference. The boat isn't sinking... if you must, picture it crashing through the crest of a large wave.

Thanx for looking in. Comments and critiques always welcome.

I dig this one a lot, well done Colin. I like how you tied the sea into the base. (y)

    Thanks Steve, much appreciated.
Will you be going to Chicago or Philadelphia this year? I'm trying to decide which one to go to.

    Cheers

Wow that was quick. He was a gleam in you eye when last I spied him. Base is very effective. I am not a big Viking fan but this one has the wow factor in spades. As I said earlier, no first time Philly for me this year. Maybe Chicago.

Thanx so much for the kind comments.
This fig was way out of my comfort zone and there was elements I am definitely new to... #1, the sculpting and painting of active water, (b) all that wood and III chainmail. The "engraving" on the soapstone base was also a first for me... as is painfully obvious

All that being said, I had lots of fun painting it and gained some experience in the areas I don't get at often.

Colin and Steve, I think Philly is probably out on such short notice but I may have to make Chicago a yearly thing. Steve, my scalplock has grown out much better than last year

    Cheers all

Very nice Colin.......Just finished this one a couple of months ago....excellent sculpt.....I too was torn regarding the water and waves........Decided to go for the calmer waters of the Fjord and not worry about the waves and let the sculpt stand on its own...........but that was just my feeling................Excellent job............Regards,Wayne
