    Hi all

I am continuing the learning curve on trying to get to grips with using only acrylic paints, as opposed to my usual technique of oil paint over acrylic and the next bust I'm having a go at is one I released under my Sarnia Miniatures brand last year - the shouting ECW pikeman.

here is the box art, painted by Peter Day:

...and here is a (slightly out of focus) photo the resin parts:

tonight I will be starting with the head and yes - fingers' crossed!

Managed to find some time this afternoon to make a start on the face, mainly blocking out the main colours and tones - very much WIP!

    Hi Guys

    I'm calling this one finished.

I think I need to learn how to add a bit more definition around the eyes, I'm not managing to bring out all of the detailed shape of the eyes very well. Still, the learning curve is part of the run.

    Lookin' good so far!!
If you don't mind, what I do is start off painting the eye balls a black or very dark brown. Then I add the iris/pupil the color they are meant to be, then all that's left is to add two "triangles" of an ivory or light gray. Leave a little of that first dark color in the corners as it will help with the shadows in the corner of the eyes and leave a little line around the edge that could mimic the eye lashes. Anyway, FWIW, that's how I do it. HTH.
