It's Derek's old Posre Militaire figure. A shame the guy is no longer in the hobby. That is unless he's become a closet painter/sculptor.~Gary

This is at least the second figure by Mr. Hansen they have released. But I have to admit, they are both fantastic figures. Good work can certainly stand the test of time! I really like this piece. It will be on my list for sure, old or not! I like the scale too!

Poste Militaire surely produced some nice figures from Mr. Hansen in the past, and this one is no exception. However, from a historical viewpoint the lorica segmentata as depicted/sculpted here, is a nightmare. So, although detail is very beautiful and crisp and loving the stance a lot, this figure won't be on my list.

I love the figure! Knowing it's a re-issued oldy, I like it even better.
Like Sambaman wrote, it stood the test of time!

I am glad that Elite is re-releasing these as I missed out the first time.

BTW, I have the other Hansen re-release from Elite French Empress Dragoon. Lovely work!

    Hi
    Good to see this re-issued

As for the Helmet Just looked it up
It looks like a later version of the imperial Gallic type
    about 3rd century A.D.
by this time constuction would have been plainer
also the lorica construction has been made simpler

That was the last figure Derek Hansen did for Poste Mil., after the 5 Franco-Prussian war figures.

He sure was one of the best sculptors 10 years ago. As for this figure, I remember there was some controversy as to the historical accuracy of the helmet, armour and shield. I believe a review in Military Modelling also expressed some doubts about that shield and armour ... Well, I never understood what was wrong with it exactly, I don't know jack about Roman soldiers ...

But it's a SUPERB figure ! :) ... Don't we all wish Derek Hansen would come back to the hobby and sculpt some more beautiful 75mm figures ?? :) Well I do !!

I also wish Derek Hansen to come back, I have always admired his sculptures, in my opinion he is one of the best sculptors in the world.

    Cheers.

I spoke with Derek at last years Euro-Militaire.He is no longer interested in Figure sculpting or painting,he now paints oil on canvas.....Pity. But he always drops in at Euro-Militaire every year.
