    Hello Planeteers,

Like to show here my little conversion of elan13 miniatures ECW Sergeant into a Dutch Sergeant of the 80 years war between the Spanish and the Dutch low countrys.
Conversion was only to open up his sleeves and adding buttons and a nice feather in his hat.

Tryed a new method (for me at least...) to paint the leather jerkin, came out nice, although not that evident on the pictures....
    :shifty:
    All painted with acrylics.

(edit:And yes! Have to do another satin coat over the leather, find it a bit to shiny on the pics now…)

    Hi Erik

Really nice looking figure and effective conversion as well.

The leather works well for me ...what did you do different ?

Like the sash colour and the overall presentation

If I did full figures Robs pieces would be in my display cabinet for sure !

    Thanks for sharing

Erik, Really nice job on the leather boots! They really look like leather! The sash looks awesome. Nice conversion of the sleeves. I also like the gabion you made from wire. (y) Very realistic touch to your base. And the placement of the cannon balls and grass was done flawlessly! All in all-Very cool! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys for your nice replies, really appreciated!!

The leather jerkin painting was differently done as my usual approach as on the boots and gloves for example.
First the jerkin was basecoated in a light 'leather like' color, then with a lighter sand color and a dark black brown color I painted the scuffs and scars respectively in (shadow) and on (highlights) the creases.(See pic below) After this was done the jerkin was coated with a wash of black Brown, through sepia and even some black. The more wash, the darker it gets, and also risking to 'lose' the scuffs and scars.
Finally a coat of satin for the soft 'leatherly' look. (Have to do this again, I know, after seeing the pic here…:grumpy: )
Boots and gloves are simply done by base coating first with a sand color, with some highlights adding white and shadows adding black. Then a couple of black washes are added, depending how dark I want the leather to be. Deu to the strong diluted black for the washes, it leaves a nice 'leathely' shine. Finish!:D
