Hi all, I'll bet a few of us have the same IKEA unit as Baphomet.

The problem seems to be a very simple mistake in the construction. The horizontal bars are welded to the verticals and you must ensure that they are on the inside of the verticals when you assemble, otherwise the glass shelves can slip out.

Tell you what though, he should be proud of the quality of them photos. They're sharp as a tack.

I have three of those cabinets....... really pleased I built mine correctly.

The only problem I've encountered with them is when the dog is having one of her Border Collie moments,
glass + dog reflection + flats = domino effect.

A cautionary tale for our time. As we say around here, "Ya gets what ya pays for".

IKEA must have had some complaints--hence the note recommending customers anchor the cabinet to a wall to keep it from getting knocked over.

I have 3 of these cabinets,fortunately i assembled mine ok,that looks disasterous,i would be heartbroken if it happened to me.

Even when assembled correctly, the Detolfs have very bad flare joints that you should inspect before placing any type of shelve/weight on them.

I have 6 of these units and after the first shelf fell because of a bad weld, I disassembed all. I now have a big stack of tempered glass panels in my basement that will be used for real built-ins that I'm constructing.

IKEA has much better cabinets than these. These are just the cheap alternative to their nicer ones.

Detolf...isn´t that the Norwegian exclamation for shock?
