All I can say is "wow." Again, Costas, you have the eye of an cinematic art director. Seriously, your choice of scenery, structure, set-up and figure placement is among the best I've ever seen. As the son of a Hollywood actor I spent many years in and around the movie industry, and you truly have an eye for the cinematic.

I love this piece. It comes alive.

    Bravo, friend!!!

Undoubtedly well painted figures and horses and the display is very good as well, however for me the whole thing just doesn't gel. Perhaps seeing it in the flesh it would look different, however the subjects look out of place.

Doing just the 2 mounted figures would have been okay, or the foot knight on the steps looking over the courtyard surveying the aftermath would have been okay, maybe even with the 2 mounted figures as well, might have been okay, however IMHO it looks awkward. None the less great work.

    Costas,
    A beautiful vignette !!!
You positioned the figures just right... and the painting of the figures and the groundwork makes this scene stand out.
    I like it a lot :)
    Cheers,

Dear Tim thanks for your comments.

Concerning that i consider miniature painting and sculpting a form of art .

That means for me that make the setting of my scene and i almost never just paint a figure on a wooden base, that i have some idea. Maybe influenced from cinema , from my own fantasy or anything .

So this particular scene as i have written again could be easily after a battle or a castle conquer by the crusaders. The rider on the stairs is moving on an external stairway and the 2 others figures are on the yard of the castle os some open space around the building .

The standarbearer is mocing pretty slow as you can see and the movement of the horse is on the other direction of the foot crusader.

The last one is just standing after the battle . My idea was to capture the atmosphere and thats what i tried to do . As i have said before with some people the chemistry works and they get the feeling, with some other people that expext another aesthetic views it just doesnt work .

I guess thats normal and simple. So as the constructor (i dont call my self an artist) i simply must respect and filter all opinions . But to be honest i have been pretty happy with the result , not caring so much for the painting level as for the idea , the atmosphere and the tight setup .

I wish i was able to share with you my way of thinking .

    Keep safe

    Costas
