    Hi modelers,

It's a long time I since I posted something new. Well in fact my progress is so slow that it wasn't worth to post any progress pics. This figure I should have finished already last year but I didn't manage in the end.

The figure is sculpted by our forum member Steve Readdie (aka 1969) last year. It's a 54mm figure and I'm going to paint it for him as a Crusader Knight, 1150.

Here some pics of the sculpture:

I started with painting the face as usual. The face is done by now, I'm only not 100% satisfied with the eyes. Maybe some touch ups later on. I also finished the protection flap. The rest I'm still working on (surcoat, chain mail and leathers). A lot of work to do here, more contrast and blending.

    Here are the pictures:

Thanks for looking and comments and critiques are welcome!

Marcel only just seen this post of the knight, hope you are enjoying the painting and you are doing a fabulous job on him.
After seeing this post again i keep thinking i will do another improved knight in 54mm soon, i would like to do a better job of sculpting the chain mail and the right hand just isnt right for the pose.

    all the best mate,

    Steve(y)

Thanks Steve!! For sure I'm enjoying painting this one. I only wish I could find some more time for painting and sculpting.
You sculpted this figure more than a year ago and your skills are still improving. So I can imagine you see all kind of things you would do different today. I have the same thing everytime I look at a sculpture some weeks later.
And it would be great to see another knight sculpted by you!

    Take care,
    Marcel.

    Update

    Mitsutaka thanks for the compliment!

    Pedro Thanks your too kind!

Here is an update on the figure. I have added deeper shadows on the surcoat. The front is blended but the back still needs some more blending work. I added and painted the sword and also did some more work on the belts. For the gloves I wanted some kind of light suede/leather look. Hopefully it looks a bit ok. I have to make some corrections.
And I started with the groundwork adding some grass and sand with some base color. The next steps are the finishing the metals (helmet and axe), shield and a red cross on the surcoat.

Thanks for looking and here are the pics.

    Cheers,
    Marcel.

    Marcel,

I think the sculpting looks fundamentally sound, and the painting looks superb with great flesh tones! Great piece of work over all! :D
