LOL, alls fair in love and war and there wasn't a lot of love lost in that war. As I understand it the houses of York and Lancaster had little to do with the rivalry between Yorkshire and Lancashire, certainly where it comes to the support both sides of the family had. Indeed Yorks main power base was the south, the age of chivalry was a Victorian romanticised look at history because the times were far too brutal for their tastes.

Either way I'm going to enjoy your thread if that's alright.

Cheers Simon

There were two battles just down the road from where I live in Somerset, clyst st Mary being one.

Must admit to not knowing that much of the history of the period but there are so many battlefields around that I have never been to see. All that history on the door step then getting excited by driving past a European battlefield. Must say though the history is less important to me as I get older, I used to do.more research than actual painting.

A little more progress but still a way to go. Some parts are harder to paint than others, ie. Wish the arms were separate, make it easier for access to paint that area.
The attachment point for the various kit he wears needs to be thinned down a touch, just so they fit easier. They are a bit tight. I did dry fit the parts first but with a thin layer of paint from undercoating they were tight. Oils were used for the leather belts and other parts.
Now for iffy pics.

All I have to choose now, is his allegence to a particular unit, although I have read somewhere (can't remember where now) that a Yorkist crossbowman shot and killed a nobleman, while hiding in a hedge.

You know me too well Nap. Had to put a bit of red some where, well more than a bit. May well go for green on the leg things,

Great progress Bob, I really like the way you did the chain mail. The contrast between that and the fabric is really effective, this is going to be a lovely piece.

Looking good Bob, love the leather, especially the water bottle and the quiver.

Some very precise work, Bob, excellent. Colors look great too, btw.

Thank you all again, I am blown away by all the comments, I am enjoying the painting of this one and a whole lot different from Napoleonics. It's now down to a base and some other bits and pieces.
Regards to all.
Bob
