My next project is a 90mm Crossbowman from Talent miniatures. The detail is fantastic, no clean up apart from a few very tiny pips.
The face has been painted in acrylics and the helmet is painted in my usual way. Bright steel acrylic and left to dry, then lamp black oils over the top and rubbed off. I have painted the hoody part and will let all this dry before carrying on.
An iffy picture from my phone. Better one when finished.

Talant Soodanbekov is an amazing artist and his creations offer great potential to an experienced modeler. You definitely fall within this category so I think we are all in for a treat.Great start.

Pulling up a chair here Bob, looking forward to see this progress.

The eternal nitpicker in me wonders why he's grabbing a bolt when he hasn't sprung his bow yet...

Looking good Bob! You really have a great approach to the metallics!:)

Cheers,
Ken

Thank you all very much for commenting and looking in, gave me a boost. I can't claim this method of painting armour is mine as it has been around for some time, it may have been on this site. It's a great method for flat is armour but not really for chain mail, it can be done but rubbing too much takes the acrylic off. I am hoping to finish him as a Yorkist during the Wars of the roses. Just need an emblem to put on his jacket?
Henk, I suppose he will put the bolt between his teeth (if he has any) before arming the crossbow. :)

Hi Bob

That certainly looks a well detailed figure , the way you paint armour works well ....as for the Yorkist emblem ...get that putty out!! ....might be some ideas in a google

Look forward to seeing more

Have fun at the bench

I'll join the party Bob, it's a good start on a great figure, if he is to be Yorkist, all the best ones are! A blue boar is a great badge, one of Richards own.

Cheers Simon

Briggsy, I read somewhere that a crossbowman shot a noble Knight and killed him, whilst he was taking a drink, the crossbowman was of course hidden. He was a Yorkist.

Thanks Kev I'm now hungry.

LOL, alls fair in love and war and there wasn't a lot of love lost in that war. As I understand it the houses of York and Lancaster had little to do with the rivalry between Yorkshire and Lancashire, certainly where it comes to the support both sides of the family had. Indeed Yorks main power base was the south, the age of chivalry was a Victorian romanticised look at history because the times were far too brutal for their tastes.

Either way I'm going to enjoy your thread if that's alright.

Cheers Simon
