When I commissioned Alan Ball to do this figure for me it was only the third figure that I ever made molds for and cast. It was also the first full figure that I attempted. Alan did a terrific job on the sculpt, and I only hoped that I wouldn't trash the master in my attempt to mold it. The flamethrower was the hardest part of the project. All turned out well and it has been a great figure.

A friend asked me to paint one for him and so I gave it a go. I had never had the time to paint one for myself, so it was also a dry run for when I do my own. The flesh is oils, and the rest in acrylics. I dusted it on the shoes, pants, and shirt with pastels dark gray chalk to show he had been rolling around in the volcanic dirt.

I placed it on a round piece of wood that has a glass dome for it. Friend did not have a glass case for it.

    +1 Agreed :)

I've seen many a masters trashed, it is a shame, but you gotta crack some eggs to make omelette's so they say! :|

    Hi! Nick.
    Great finish!
The color of the uniform is wonderful.
    A flamethrower is very realistic.
I also liked the fresh tone.
By the way the figure I'm painting at present also wears this helmet.
A figure of the same timing?
    I congratulate completion.

    Good figure and painting Nick.
I think you've nailed the uniform colour very well.
    Flame thrower looks cool!

    Cheers,

Hi everyone, Thank you very much for your kind comments!

Mitsutaka, Yes, this figure could be the same time period as your Marine. This one is 1945 and has the brown side out helmet cover.

Nicely done Nick. I think you've captured the look and the feel of the marine in combat.
