So today at a club swap meet, I was able to buy a Michael Saez figure that I have been trying get my hands on for the last couple of years. Now I have a problem, since this is the only copy I have EVER seen, I don't know if I should paint it. Admittedly, it would be much later this year before it gets any where near the top of the pile, but it is just so nice. What to do?

I know that feeling very well but they were designed, sculpted and cast to be painted so they should be. How much you value this piece should reflect in your painting of it...... in the meantime keep looking for another one if you want to keep one unpainted. :D

Its that age old question (s), that we as modellers of all genres will always have!

    1) Is it a commodity to eventually sell on ? ( Its a rare and hard to find piece) which may increase in value.

    2) Could I, or do I, have the skill / Confidence, to do it justice. without destroying its worth.

    3) Do I sit on it and generally fantasize of what could be the end product ?

    4) How many years do I hold onto it, before it becomes a lower ranking sculpt.

    5) And finally, who else knows its worth or scarcity, if I got 'Mullered', by the No's 275 bus to 'Chingford'.

Ok, I will shut-up now. LOL.

    Regards,

    Mark

Two questions remain to be answered now,
    a. Have you decided on a course of action?
    b. What figure is it?

Enquiring minds want to know. :D

    A) logic seems to dictate, painting it, the caveat being that since it is going on into " the stash" I can always change my mind;)
    B) 120mm (I think) Free French pilot of the Normandie Nieman regiment (Soviet Air Force) Ca. 1944-45. Judging by the painting guide in the kit I am thinking there might have been plans for Metal Modeles to do more large scale pilot figures.
It is a beauty, though there is a bit of clean up to do, if I do paint. It's resin so no big deal. The sculpting is first rate.

Yes, changing of mind, I know it well, even after saying right that's it I'm not going to change my mind again. :D
