This is a subject that I have wanted to do for some time. A collector recently contacted me wanting a few figures for his collection, with a Confederate Marine among the subjects. This is going to be a one off (non-commercial) piece that will be painted by a painter chosen by the collector. The figure is loosely based on a painting by Don troiani.

I should have some photos up within a week or so.

Gary I'm sure the collector will be the proud owner of an outstanding sculpt from your capable hands!!!!

If we were not so far far away from each other, I'd love to get my brushes on this one :)

Good Luck (I'm sure you don't need it)

    Take Care,

    Ray ;)

That picture would actually make an awfully nice pose and background! Excellent idea for a figure.

    All the best,
    Dan

Ray, Thanks. The collector has a few painters in mind. Once the figure is completed I may have a better idea who it is to be.~Gary

Dan, The steps and ship's deck are almost complete minus the railing. It's made out of basswood, which was easier than using strip plastic.~Gary

Matt, the pose is going to be a little different, though the concept will be pretty much the same.~Gary

This is going to be a real beauty Gary ! are you using any commercial bits or is it all original?

In your able hands, the pose will still be dramatic I am sure. The collector will be pleased.

Excellent! Gary - I'm glad you saw in it (long before I did, of course) the same pose and setting. It's a little re-assurance for me that I have an eye for such things.

    All the best,
    Dan

Leigh, I'm using a 1/35 head sculpted by Taesung some years ago for Tiger Models. I'm converting a Dragon 1/35 rifle supplied with their Union infantry kit into a 2 banded enfield rifle with a sword/sabre bayonet. The remainder of the figure will be scratch.~Gary

The roughed in figure posed on the steps. Sorry for the bad photo, more are on the way. I know the lower right leg appears shorter than the left. The leg is bent and the angle of the pictue makes it seem shorter yet.

    Maurizio, Thank you.

I built up the lower jaw and added a mustache. I may trim up the jawline just a little. Sorry for the bad pics.
