    HI all,

The other day I make a mistake and I bought three soldiers from Colorado web site (by the way a superb service).

When I received the soldiers I could not wait until my other projects are finished. Then I begun to paint this soldiers with the purpose of making a vigñete.

The design is very related with the soldiers selected. One is lying down, another kneelling and the third one is aproaching very cautious.

All the soldiers are from Shenandoah Miniatures

I attach some pics with one of them. At this time I only complete the head.

    I wait for your comments.
    Regards,

    Rafa

Looks good so far. I look forward to seeing the finished product. The Shenandoah line offers so many possibilities. They are very well rendered figures. The best bargain out there for ACW nuts.

    Gray,
I was talking about a "mistake" because the figures are so pretty that I couldn't wait until finish the rest of my projects for painting them. Of course the figures are very nice. And also I talk about the good service Colorado Miniatures gave me. I wrote the order a Sunday and I received the figures 3 days later (ONLY 3 days to reach SPAIN!!!). A superb service!!!.

    Thanks again

    Rafa

    Ernesto,

    Saludos,

    Rafa

It's a good start. You have a great expression on the face.

A couple of suggestions; Don't be afraid to add some deeper shadows to those areas that are out of the light, like under the arms and between the legs. Also, this is a lesson I had to learn with Shenandoah figures, the arm included with this figure is the same as other figures in the line and as such is designed to fit in several positions. Don't be afraid to do a little bending at the wrist holding the weapon to get a good fit at the wrist joint of the ohter hand. It can be a tad frustrating working in this manner, but a little manipulation and dry-fitting should reveal the best alignment of the parts.

    John,

Thanks a lot for your comments. Because I must do two more Shenandoah figures I will try your fit technique in the next two soldiers. It is very later for doing that with the previous one (I`ll try to do a piece of sleeve for to fix the problem with the left hand of the soldier).

About to do more deep shadow under the arms and between the legs, I will do that and share with you the final results in this forum. Also I´ll try to do at least one more ligth in the jacket.

Great flesh tones there Rafael. Are you using oils or acrylics for your flesh? Also what's your mix? Keep up the good work man.. i can't wait for the complete vignete.

    Xenofon,

Thanks a lot for your kind comments. The flesh tones used are adapted from the "master" Jaime Ortiz article that you can read in Planetfigure. It is based on BROWN SAND (876) as Base color. The lights are made with this color + Basik Skintone (815) in at least three applications. The shadows are made using the base + Burn cadmium red (814).

All that color are Vallejo acrylics colors.

    Rafa
