    Dear Planeteers,

often we face the problem of having to paint complex camouflage patterns on figures from the present, which are becoming more and more complicated.

Here is a simple trick, with which such patterns (almost) always succeed.

Example should be this figure, which represents a tank driver of the Bundeswehr in the current "Tüpfeltarn" -Overall ...:

First of all, the face is painted normally ...:

... and covered with "Maskol" after complete drying ...:

Then we look for the colors that make up the camouflage stains.

Important: These should be colors that are also suitable for the airbrush - they are thinner than the conventional acrylic paints and thus "flow" better ...:

Then we take a commercial photo box ...

... in which the primed figure is placed.

You can also take a simple home-made wooden box ...

... or an old drawer ...:

Important: The wooden box / the photo box must be FIXED on a stable surface, which we achieve best with double-sided carpet tape.

Next we need a sturdy metal box, like this one ...

... or something similar, for example an old bread box made of tin ...:

The metal box / old bread box is then placed with the opening forward in front of the wooden box - and also secured with carpet tape to prevent slipping.

In this tin box we put our selected colors - as close as possible and "in one pile".

Then we take a New Year firecracker ...

    ... ignite the fuse ...

... place the explosive device quickly (!!! Caution: risk of injury!) behind the colors - and quickly leave the room!

    Then...

After that we just have to clean up a bit, remove the "Maskol" from the face (we can do well with a toothpick and tweezers!) and finally paint the details of the figure (gloves, belt, helmet, etc.) with a brush.

    Finished...:

    Have fun while trying!

    Cheers
