I think you are right. These boots are almost as Combat boots.
Maybe the soldier went back into time.

I thought about that too. they do not have to be "cowboy" type boots per se, but I think a more period looking square or rounded toe boot would have looked better. It's nothing that can't be worked if it bothers you.~Gary
