Finished this vingette yesterday - 5 figure 1/35 close combat scene in Stalingrad with desperate Russians closing in on a German Patrol. All figures are Master Box - all in some way altered: new Hornet heads (of course), hands, repositioned arms, etc. Ground work is scratchbuilt. Base measures approx. 5.5" x 3.5".

These figures are very nice for injection molded, but required some extra carving to define detail on pockets, pants seams, etc. I hollowed out sleeves too.

    Cheers,

    Chip

I've tried several 1:35th scale vignettes and dioramas and it is not easy. The
figures are so small. You have done a super job. So much individual detail
in each figure, and in the setting as well. First class work. Wow, very
impressive. This presentation is so good, IMHO, that there should be more
    pictures posted of it. Congrats,

    Oh, I forgot to ask. . .

Because of the angles of your photos, I couldn't tell how the rifle that is
falling from the Wehrmacht soldier just wounded, is attached.

I'm asking where is the rifle attached? Is the rifle sling glued against the
    soldier's leg?

    Falling Rifle

The falling rifle is "pegged" with a wire attached to the hit Germans leg to give the impression he dropped it when hit.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated!

Much better pictures Chip. Now we are starting to see more of the hard work you put into your figures. Keep them coming!

Chip, superb groundwork, it almost doesn't need the figures. :) Great painting and action poses. I can appreciate the amount of work involved, great Dio.

Great job on this little ambush scene Chip, the figures are done very nicely and i like your choice of heads which match the scene and their actions. You can see the fear and shock in the germans face hwo has been shot, very well done.

Looks good Chip! How did you make the base?

    The Base

    Hello Russ.

The base started with an Andrea MDF (Fake wood) base, on top of it I built up the platform that the Russian are on out of blue home insulating foam. I built the borders of it out of styrene sheets, the top is also styrene scribed and textured to look like poured concrete.

The stairs were made from styrene with Grandt line nuts and washers.

The small wall behind the Germans is also blue home insulation foam with cork bricks and a photo etch window frame.

    Do you have a Vbench?

    Take Care,

    Chip
