    Only the 2nd US cavalry regiment was put in the field with the American Expeditionary Force in Europe. AEF leadership believed that the need for cavalry on the battlefields of the Western Front was very limited. These photos however provide a general idea of uniforms, weapons and equipment of US cavalry of the period. You might want to compare them with the photos in the Mexican Punitive Expedition posting elsewhere.
