The story so far. I'm painting the figs from right to left, hopefully this will make it a bit easier to paint as I'm left handed.

? are you planning to place it in a shadow box ?

Adam, the plan is to mount it on a background drawn with pastels and place in a frame. More details as it happens. :D

    Hi Roger

I very much like the composition and you have made a good start. It's a very good sculpt so given your painting skills this should be another one to keep admiring.

    Cheers

    Hey Roger, looks great.

Can I suggest some flat well crafted wood to give the impression of beams closer to the veiwer in each to corner of the frame.

This would give a fantastic 3 dimensional look to the whole scene. Just a suggestion mate but it all looks very well thought out.

    Cheers

    Thanks Dave.
Good suggestion and it did actually cross my mind to do that when I was planning this project. I was going to use the wood that fruit boxes are made from.
I think I'll leave this one as it is as I want it to be in keeping with the painting it's based upon. The wood idea will be used on a future proect though, cheers. (y)

Ok Roger, either way it looks great so let's see some more painting.

I love the way it is framed and I always find it quite amazing how three dimensional it looks once painted.

Great stuff mate and watching with interest.

Cheers Dave, I was going to use the wood from an orange box I spotted at work but by the time I'd thought about it someone had chucked it out, that's when I decided on an all pastels background.

Here's background I have in mind for another little scene.

Cheers Ron, still lots to do but now the basic colours are in I can emphasise the lights and shadows some more.

Personally Roger I wouldn't bring the lights up more than you have , it has that subdued aurora of the times as it is, perhaps set in a deep decoupage frame with a little perspective thrown in might look good .

but Im sure you will get the best from it.
