    Hi, everyone,

Just getting the word out early, we, of the MFCA, will hold our 79th Annual Show & Mart on April 17 and 18 in 2020, at the Radisson Hotel-Philadelphia Northeast, in Trevose PA. Even though that's not quite a year away, we're looking forward to it, and to seeing all our old friends, and to making new ones. Hope to see you at the show!

    Prost!

Was thinking that myself although it is a huge decision. Many if not most will have arranged transport and accommodation and without clear instructions from governments could be out of pocket although most hotels offer the 48hr cancellationn option.
Suspect organisers will be hoping the warmer weather will supress the virus although that is by no means certain.

My thoughts entirely Del, I'm in for a Hotel and The tunnel so far although as you say the hotel is 48 Hour cancellation. The problem for the organisers is the longer they wait the more it will probably cost them.........I think the next 2-6 weeks are pretty critical.

    See you at Darlington hopefully.

I agree Marc but the pattern of this virus is completely unknown at the moment so they are unsure if it will abate in the warmer weather-how long can they wait to find out? that is the question for the organisers.

    Hi Guys

As much as I like shows and who doesn't !........my thought is that the sooner a decision is made about a show the better , there are many other things to consider for those booked to go ...potential financial loss for travel/hotels etc amongst them

The sooner a decision is made this will stop any uncertainty ........and there's always the next show

MFCA statement on the Wuhan virus and its impact on our 2020 show:

To all our friends and patrons,

As concern over the spread of the Wuhan virus increases almost hourly, we wanted to take the opportunity to publish a statement about its impact on our 2020 show on April 17 & 18.

As of today, March 12, we intend on staging the show as planned. We do recognize that the situation is subject to increasing change, and if it becomes necessary for us to change those plans, we will notify you, via our website (www.mfcashow.com), our Facebook page and group; and for our vendors, via email.

As far as everyone’s individual health is concerned, we support the measures recommended for individuals by the Centers for Disease Control, including remaining home and avoiding public places if you feel sick; covering your mouth if you must cough or sneeze, or using the crook of your elbow; and most importantly, washing your hands frequently with soap and hot water, or failing that, using a hand sanitizer.

You may wish to review the CDC’s guidelines for traveling at this time, which can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html

We hope you remain in good health and look forward to sharing our hobby for years to come.

    Best regards,
the members of the Miniature Figure Collectors of America

In light of the growing concerns over the spread of the corona virus, the Organising Committee of the Western Australian Scale Model Expo have reluctantly decided to cancel this year’s event. Wasmex will be back in 2021.

Getting right to the point…our contest is cancelled for this year. We talked with K of C and looked at their schedule and other contest/holidays into June. There really were no open dates for us to move to. Further, a move to a date still close would be no guarantee of better conditions. Additionally, given many (most) of our membership and visitors fall into the higher risk categories for Covid-19. The hall is typically very crowded, tough that might not have been an issue this year, which presents its problems.
We booked the hall for 28 March 2021.

UPDATE IMPACT CORONAVIRUS - Last Post Ieper, 14/03/2020
THE LAST POST CEREMONY AS FROM SATURDAY 14 MARCH 2020
In response to the growing incidence of the coronavirus, from Saturday 14 March 2020 and until further notice the following measures will apply to the daily Last Post Ceremony at 2000 hours under the Menin Gate Memorial in Ieper:
    • The ceremony will be restricted to an absolute minimum; namely, the playing of the Last Post as a tribute to the soldiers of the Commonwealth who fell for our freedom.
    • There will be no recital of the Binyon Exhortation and the Kohima Epitaph and there will be no possibility to lay wreaths.
    • The participation of bands, choirs and pipers will likewise not be possible. Efforts will be made to contact all groups who are registered to attend in this capacity.
    • After the ceremony, it will no longer be possible to talk to the buglers or to take photographs with them.
People who still wish to attend this shortened ceremony are asked to comply with the following safety precautions:
    • As far as a possible, maintain a minimum distance of 1 ½ meters between yourself and the people around you.
    • If you show any signs of infection (high temperature, a persistent cough, breathlessness or other respiratory difficulties), please do NOT come to the Menin Gate, but seek immediate medical advice.
These measures have been taken in collaboration with the City of Ieper and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and will remain in force for as long as is necessary.
Because the situation is changing quickly, so that new regulations are also being issued with increasing frequency, the City of Ieper, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and the Last Post Association, will continue to evaluate these measures and will amend them as and when necessary. Any changes will be communicated through the Association’s various channels of communication.
The Last Post Association wishes to thank everyone for their willingness to comply with these measures and thereby prevent the further spread of the virus.
