    Hi all.
    Here my first real WIP.

The buste is from Young miniatures and is excellent.

I’ll finish it with acryls conform the kirill method with structure

    The progress so far
After a base coat of vallejo brown sand I sketched the main highlights and shadows.
After blending the first rough sketches I added the details.
I saw some problems with the shadows so I needed to correct this.
Then the eyes and other details. The left eye was a one hit wonder. The right eye needed 4 rounds.
But after that I was happy

    Then the famous red barret

Some mix with red, black, ocker shades where sketched on the figure. Then with an old brush the colour where stampeld together

Next up the neck and details

Well done on the Beret colour, not an easy colour to get right.

Let's see if I can describe how I work
There are several roads to Rome, and I combine these :)

I have attended two Kirill workshops who does a lot with dots, lines and layers. He does dilute the paint at a ratio of max 1: 2 (1 part paint to 2 parts water)
he places dots close together in the following color or shade.

    Shadow 2 - Shadow 1 - Basic - Highlight 1 - Highlight 2

He puts the dots or dashes of Shadow 1 in Shadow 2, the base in shadow 1, and highlight 1 in the base etc. he sets an even lighter shade in Highlight 2. The dots automatically give you structure
Now I'm not master of these dots so I blend it in with very diluted paint.
I blend with shadow 1 and highlight 1.

With the Barret I cheated by dotting the top 5 shades with an old coarse brush. This seems sloppy but if you go on long enough it will look like something.

The colors that I use for the beret are:

Shade: Black + Burn Cad Red + Carmine Red (more black for deeper shadow)

Base: Burn Cad Red + Carmine red

Highlight: Burn Cad Red + Carmine red + Basic skin tone or desert yellow (or mix) and more of the skin tone for higher highlights

    =====

In the meantime, the scarf, blouse and sweater are also finished.
The Smock is in the base colour

Only the PIAT and bagpack needs the final finish. Then some touch-ups and then it’s finished
