    Hi guys,

I've finally finished the groundwork and weathering for this figure, sculpted by Phil Walden, and present it to you now.

It represents an Australian bren gunner from the 2/2 Independent (Commando) Company in Timor 1942. For those of you who want to know more about the Timor campaign, there's plenty of background information on my WIP thread.

The unit insignia on the front of the base is the "Double Red" diamonds. Most of the men of this famous unit came from my home state of Western Australia. Sadly there are only a handful of these brave men alive today.

I hope you like it. As always comments/criticism welcome.

Congratulations, this digger looks great! I particularly like the worn and dirty look of his battle dress. Very realistic. It really is a pitty this figure is OOP. I would get one straight away.

Thanks very much guys, I'm very pleased you like the way he's turned out.

I plan to donate this figure to the 2/2 Independent Company Association and hopefully they can raffle it, or put it on display in their museum at Swanbourne Barracks.

    Thanks Mark & Corey,

I really appreciate your positive feedabck.

I've just been on the phone to Phil Walden, who sculpted this magnificent figure several years ago. Phil asked me to let you guys know that he's planning to re-release this figure under the OZMODS brand, as part of his series of WW2 ANZAC Pacific Theatre figure range. Apparently only 13 of these figures were ever produced. I'm not sure when they'll be available, but hopefully soon.

He's also stated sculpting a 120mm Japanese infantryman in New Guinea, inspired by another thread on Planet Figure relating to the lack of Japanese figures from WW2.

Great news for those of us who like to model subjects from the Pacific Theatre of Operations in WW2.

G'day Phil, Thanks for the update cobber. I look forward to seeing the Japanese figure come out soon.

Thanks Mitsutaka, I'm very pleased you like it. I greatly appreciate your comments.

G'day John, thanks mate. I really enjoyed painting this figure. The story behind the men of Timor gave me full licence to go mad with the mud and sweat stains and the weathering. My only concern is that perhaps he doesn't have enough mud and sweat on him. Thanks once again for your comments.
