    Hello fellow planeteers,
After several months with the marine mammals in the Strait of Gibraltar, I'm glad to be back at the bench, with this little bust as a first result: Yury Serebryakov's 250mm Bolchevik bust, painted in oils as usual.

    Very nice work Pierre.
It's one of Yury's best, and is probably my favourite of the busts I've painted to-date.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Beautifully painted! A lot of personality expressed by the figure!

I've seen a few painted, yours really is a level up! Congrats! (y)

Btw, who's the manufacturer? I believe I've seen this one before, but can't remember where...

    Cheers!

    Dolf

EDIT: Ok, believe I found who the manufacturer is, Castle Miniatures I suppose. Doesn't seem no longer available on their own site, but there's a couple of retailers who still have it on their stock. I'm tempted to order one, I really like this figure. And 1/9 scale should be the best for my tired eyes...

Got a couple more questions if you don't mind.

About that cylindrical tube that holds the bust to the base. What's it made of? What's the diameter? Where to get these?

    Cheers!

    Hello Dolf,
The bust was made by Castle Miniatures in 250mm scale, I don't know if it is still available. The cylindrical tube that connects the bust to the base is simply a 8mm brass hollow tube available in every hardware store., placed over a steel rod that goes into the the bust and the base, the whole lot fixed together with epoxy glue. In the past I used to polish the brass to a high sheen until a fellow modeler thought it detracts the attention from the bust, so now I paint them simply Humbrol Matt Black!
    cheers,

Thank you very much Pierre, appreciate it (y)

No, not available anymore directly from the manufacturer. But I know of a couple of retailers who still have it available. I'm going to order one I guess :)

If I get it right, inside the brass hollow tube is the steel rod (which I see going inside the brass tube), right? What diameter is this steel rod?

    Thanks again!

    Cheers!

Depends on the inner diameter of the brass tube you use. I leave about 1mm space to make last minutes adjustments while the epoxy glue is setting.
