This figure was casted by La Meridiana (sold as Jedediah Smith, but there is only a sketch remained of his portrait, where he isn't looking anything like this). I am in love with the american frontier stuff so I am really excited to finally get started with this one. Instead of zenithal base coating I tried to create a "speckly mist" as I am going for a textured skin clothing.

Great figure, never seen this before. Textured buckskin will be very interesting, looking forward to you breathing life into him.

Tried a basecoat for the buckskin and painted the face yesterday.

Very nice, like the old TV series Grizzly Adams. The face is very nice especially considering there isn't much of it left after the beard.

Planning to do the highlights on the bucksing with a sponge in order to achieve the appropriate texture - I really hope it is going to work!

That sounds like a great idea I will be very interested on the result, good luck.

Looking very good so far and interested to see how your approach to highlighting works out. It could be very effective for the textured look.

    Liking the progress.
Is there a particular type of sponge you use for detailing?

Nothing fancy, just a snatch of a regular dishwashing sponge.
