    Like gordy says you can use a tank beofre the chamber which is pre-evacuated to hasten the pump down time.
    Steve the gripley has been out of fashion for years, the metric pinch bearing is now the norm ,using a flying weight which acts as a lever, the centre of the bearing being an eccentric coil of clutch washers is compressed against the shaft and stops it moving, get with the times man!
