Okay, I sometimes work on figures in my basement, never really sharing with anyone. So I guess this is my first reveal. These blown up pics are scary! LOL! Much larger that I can see, even with my optivisor. I'd like to get some advice on improving my figures. Be brutal, (but not THAT brutal :)).

This is a Dragon 1/35th conversion with, I think an old Warriors head and stuff from the scrap box.

I don't know why they came out sideways. Sorry!

I already see a few things I need to go back and fix, but I'd like some advice you guys.

I've looked close-up with 3.5x magnification at figures painted by guys who have won medals at major shows, and you know what? At that level of blow-up you'd be amazed at the amount of flaws, imperfections, omissions and "that'll have to do" bits that you can see in the paintwork, even by the best painters.

Very few painters' work can withstand too much magnification, so don't worry about it. If it looks good to the naked eye, it is good. And I would bet that to the naked eye this looks pretty damn good. It actually looks decent enough magnified.

Looks pretty good to me, Chaz. I like WW2 subjects & the face & camo helmet cover are particularly well done to my eye.
Groundwork & especially the finish on the stone column are very impressive & set the scene well.
    More please!

Thanks guys,, you are very kind and encouraging. Things I see at this magnification. The helmet cover seems a bit glossy and I should flatten it out. It looks like I was a bit heavy handed with my outlining in places. Also, I wanted his uniform to look weathered and dirty from days of street fighting, but looks a little blotchy here. I may go back with some Field Gray glazes and tone it down.

    I like that it's a bit rough, it's Berlin in 1945; it's rather impressionistic

    Hi Chazman,
If you open your pictures with Microsoft picture manager or similar, turn them and save. Also you could just post as thumbnails rather than full pictures, you then get a more realistic prospective of your work. Hope this helps.
    cheers
