Dan Morton
A Fixture
Germany went to war with bayonets mostly designed in 1871 with some being modified or newly designed in 1898. A bayonet designed for their pioneers was the most menacing with saw teeth on one side - the Pioneer Faschinenmesser 1871. By mid-war, with so many materials unavailable due to the British blockade, they had to resort to ersatz bayonets of simpler designs.
