Here's the face in it's finished form. I always say that but after a few days I go back and retouch it. I will try to post as may steps on this one as possible. The hair is just blocked in to check correct tones

    Hi Stephen

The face looks great. I also add some touches after two or three days but it's not always for better :(

I look forward to the next steps.

    Stephen,

Really nice looking. I like the colors and the face is really nice. Did you sculpt it or is it stock?

    Guys ,thanks.

Joe the head is a metal modeles stock but slightly converted to suit the subject. I'm quite happy with the way it turned out.

    Hi Stephen,
Nicely painted face, Just like you I get so far
then start tinkering with it. Not always for the better
more than once I have lost it altogether.

Have thought about going against tradition and painting my
next figure face last......what do you think?

    Interesting discussion.

I am new enough after returning to the hobby that I still get jazzed about painting the face. I find that if I am satisfied with the face, it motivates me to share and finish the rest of the figure.

    Stephen -

    I would not tweak a thing. (y)

Frank , thanks for the comments. What you say is very interesting but I think it's what works best for you at the time of doing. Personally I never thought of painting anything else before the face. If it turns out the way I have in my head it gives me a moral boost for the rest. Then , it happens that in most cases you have to at least give the base coat to the surrounding area to adjust the facial tones. In fact I always block in the hair when i paint faces since it gives me a better dimension all round. But as I said , the fact that it works for me doesn't mean it works for everybody. One can only try to tell

Looks great Stephen! I think it will look even better once the colors around it are blocked in.

Anders, I agree. Just blocking in the gaiters gave a whole new dimension
