Hi everyone

Following on from the 1/12th bust release from Omen Miniatures of Anubis which I looked at here: https://www.planetfigure.com/posts/1045543/

Also the double bust of Anubis here: https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/anubis-battle-of-gods-from-omen-miniatures.278173/

The subject has been expanded to a full 75mm diorama in all its glory as we see with these pictures from the FB page

On opening the box which is packed right to the very top with bubble wrap you and individual clear bags with the figures in ,all intertwined by the wrap , then at the bottoms we have the base and a sarcophagus ....

Must say its certainly good packing and I have no doubt time consuming to do !!

Here we have the pictures of the pieces which we have a total of 5 figures with various accessories

Lets look at the Pharoah !!!

OMEN BATTLE OF GODS 026.jpg

Prep...slight sanding around edges and remove small casting posts and then build up pieces , a tiny slither of filler is needed

This is a lovely piece well thought out in respect of building the piece , depicting the pharoah, swathed in bandages , textures are all over

Needless to say the casting is sharp and well some highlighting all the textures , again the muscle work is finly done , the agony of the hand grip from Anubis shows well in the face despite being covered in bandages ....you can almost hear the scream !!!!

On the upper torso the casting has been cleverly done to include the blood effects from the heart being removed

Upper arms and legs are wrapped in bandages the lower having protection pieces all nicely detailed

What's clever as in the double bust is that Anubis's arm is already cast to the head ....allowing for a strong fitment

Please enjoy the work on the pharoah's hands the fingers are great, all individual and feeling the pain

One of the legs are cast into the lower torso the other separate , easy fitting on this and the arms , good work on the textures and the sandals

Around he waist a protection with flowing material in response to the movement , there is a separate piece that fits on easily as well

Also for fitting is a belt with a weapon , scythe like , very good cast with decoration on the belt

Now to look at the base figures

OMEN BATTLE OF GODS 046.jpg

One is a full figure who sits leaning against the back of the sarcophagos , the other a half figure thats rising from the ground

Prep

Both have large resin posts ...these are to fit into the base so no need for anything except slight sanding and then fitting limbs on each figure ...a small slither of filler is needed

The full figure is as all mummy's should be covered in bandages arms are easily fitted , all shows textures , the head is cast on turned to the left the mouth open exposing teeth, gritted together , good detail on the shoulder piece , the body's lower rib cage is well shown

The half figure is of a lower status , no shoulder covering being worn still the facial features scream at you , the mouth open ..perhaps in silent agony , the nose peeks out of bandages , the right arm outstretched m the left hand clawing at the ground trying to rise up

On both pieces the hands are well sculpted and outstretched , textures of course are there

Now to the final figure from the base and the accessories

OMEN BATTLE OF GODS 064.jpg

Prep... Slight flashing on the figure , tiny casting line on arms , slightly heavier one on the actual legs ...careful knife use and sanding will deal with these easy enough ,fit torso to legs and fit head and dagger and shaft in place

This is the only figure that has a separate head possibly a casting requirement ? , the left hand raised up and bent over the right will hold the standard shaft

The figure again is bandaged up , textured up and a great addition to the base and overall diorama , he holds a standard as such with a winged piece outstretched with scales hanging on each side

The standard will need to be made up consisting of chains , containers , the pole and the wings , when together they look good ...some might want to replace the resin chains with market pieces and the pole with a scale brass rod

Final 2 pieces now !!!

Sarcophagos and Base

Prep...Sand off the excess resin from lower edge of sarcophagos and remove any flashing and then fit simply into the well formed cut out on base

The base needs a little sanding around edges and obviously the figures positioned

The sarcophagos os a lovely addition and very well thought out not only in sculpting but also casting and the angle its at , the whole piece is covered with lettering , with damage to edges sculpted in ...this has been well researched for sure and painting will really bring this out

The base is a heavy piece of resin which provides excellent anchorage to the figures and parts , its textured to include ground effects with numerous pots included and all with designs on them , there are more than adequete fitment points for the figures etc

Final Thoughts

This has been a very picture heavy review of course with so much there , you get a heck of a lot resin and all is well detailed , the concept idea is really good well presented and build friendly as well , these releases are limited so I strongly suggest you get one while you can , Omen are a company under the wing of Hugo Pereira from RP Models , who we know to be a dedicated and customer friendly person and it shows in this release

From me its a well deserved zxx.jpg

I suggest that you contact Hugo via these links

Thanks for the very detailed review. Outstanding looking kit - a lot of pieces but a very unique scene!

Great review again K. (y)

Got to admire Omen / RP for what is a huge undertaking.
It's maybe not something I'd buy personally, but I'm delighted to see it being released and can't wait to see one painted up in the 'flesh' so to speak (Ricardo's version looks very colourful). It certainly ranks as one of the most imaginative figure sets released recently and the quality looks excellent I'm sure there are a few piggy banks being rattled after seeing the images of it

Cheers
Paul

Excellent review of an outstanding and most unusual kit. Certainly a massive undertaking by Hugo and his team.

Nice one Nap
I was so tempted when I first saw this one, such a nice piece. How great does the painted up one look
