Basework for 12 SS figure

This is the start of my base for the 12 SS figure from Wolf. It is intended to show a direct hit from a mortar. The base is constructed from dowel, milliput, vallejos, MMP powders and wooland scenics flock, with a resicast helmet and wolf kar98. Comments welcome as usual.

Thanks for the comments fellas, here's an update with the figure attached to the base, waiting for its hands and head to be done. Then it's on to the blending of the base and weathering of the webbing and gear.

    Martin-

Very effective groundwork. I especially like the partially covered helmet.

Here's some more work on the vignette, hopefully the facepainting doesn't spoil the groundwork:

The hands are still in progress and the hair will be muted down a few shades too.

Hands are done, now all that needs doing is the base tidying up and the wood painting.

I very much like the detail on the ground work.

The figure seems a little too close to the edge of base. makes me kinda nervous  I would have knocked him off several times by now had it been me

Seriously, it's well done and I like the flesh tone work as well.

The idea behind the edgy figure is an attempt to show him just entering the scene. I don't know if it works, but he's supposed to be looking for his mate. Who is now minus his helmet, and the rest of his body for that matter.

The figure now has a gun, which needs a little touch up here and there. Tomorrow, I will clean up the edges of the base and give the wood a coat of varnish.

How about some dogtags and tattered cloth remains?
