As a few members already know, following a 'mini stroke' back in February this year, I have been struggling to get back to the bench. I have only managed to do one piece other than this one, as a thank you for my partner Anna, for her support and care. The support I have had from members I regard as friends has in no small way helped me to return to the bench to finish this particular project and, I am trully grateful to them for their support.

I have always wanted to do this piece, as I regard this as one of Ray Lamb's finest.
It depicts a mounted French Dragoon circa1812 of the 18th regiment whilst out on a scouting mission.
The base was chosen to create a sense of him looking down on an enemy patrol, which his pose lends itself to nicely.
As those of you that were following the start of this piece will remember, the horse was mostly airbrushed, with all other details, figure etc., being in oils, with acrylics for metals.
Hope it was worth the wait!

Ron, well worth the wait. It's turned out great. I was following it before and did wonder what had happened, wish you well on the road to recovery. I do know what you have been going through from past previous experience.

    Barrie.

Ron, sorry to hear about your trouble but you're back with a bang mate.
I agree that it's one of Ray Lambs finest pieces but you rarely see it as well displayed as you have done here (y)
Beautiful attention to detail throughout and a real sense of him looking from a height.
    Great photos too.
    Cheers

Hello Ron: Oh my. . . this is just beautiful. Obviously, you are
one very creative artist. Every aspect of this presentation is
first class. Even the name plate is super. Thank you for taking
time to display this lovely piece here for the Planeteers.
But more importantly, I wish you a full recovery and complete
return to normal health. At an age of 78, I fully understand that
life is a gift and every day we have is a blessing.
My warm regards to you, Sir, Rick Brownlee

Nice to see you on the mend Ron. This is the first mounted figure I ever worked on. Never finished mine but I learned a lot. Yours is terrific. The setting is excellent.

Beautiful work on the figure, the horse is particularly outstanding. I know we'll see many more great works from you for years to come.

Thanks mate...it certainly is a learning experience with this particular piece...needs careful prep and planning....but worth it I think...and fully justifies a good setting (y)
