WIP Austro-hungarian Mountain Troops - Bust 1/9

Yes perfectly clear (y) Oddly I have found that more hardener in the mix makes MagicSculp smoother (because the resin is slightly more like clay, the hardener more pliable)! When sculpting in MS I have often deliberately used a higher proportion of hardener for certain things, like sculpting locks of hair or longer fur. But obviously no matter what mix you use if you wait too long it will stiffen up and become less flexible.

Is the second clay rope gone now? I think it looked really quite good, just a little work to refine it and increase the definition and it would have been just fine.

I keept almost every version of the rope, and the second one will be a final one if I fail to do better ;)

I think, you should take the older version by putty.

    Berg Heil!

That's a much better looking climbing rope!! (y)(y) I've also used twisted cotton twine for 1/6th scale climbing rope and model ship rigging cord which comes in various sizes. Standard climbing rope during WWI and WWII was 10-15mm in diameter and 20-40 meters in length. Here are a couple of examples:

Just aplied first layer of white glue with the brush-I hope it will harden the "rope" enough to be casted...

The black 'rope' looks pretty good; maybe just a tad too tightly wound, not much. Patrick - your snow shoes are outstanding! Are those 1/6th scale?

Another option is a much lighter gauge of wire - maybe something like old picture hanger wire. I've used that to make rope - takes forever to twist into the right shapes, but it looks pretty good when finished. I've never had to make very much of it fortunately.

    All the best,
    Dan

I think the black rope looks to be more to scale.

I'm with Martin and Heeresbergführer. And please watch the caps on Bergführers Picture. Higher, wider.
(By the way this rope won't be easy to molding. But this is my problem :) )

Agreed - the black rope is best.

Are you going to add the crossing harness that holds up the ammo containers?

I'd remove both the large belt that crosses the torso top left to bottom right and the harness that comes down from the right shoulder and re-do them. Both of them kind of need to sink into the torso some and not be rounded at all on the edges.

Just my opinions. Feel free to disagree and ignore the comments.

    All the best,
    Dan

I'll redo both of the small harnesses...they look too flat, and they should cross the pockets as shown on the picture...

Now I have only one concern: is measurement of PE correct and will fit on the bust. I must be patient until postman arrives ...
