Also on my bench besides a heap of flats awaiting paint is this bust by Michael Miniatures of an Austrian Uhlan officer 1910.

I've been admiring this range of figs for awhile now due to the subject matter so I thought it was time to contact Steve at skminiatures.

Flesh is base coated and I've made a start on the eyes. I'm not sure whether to paint in a catchlight or not, what do you think? I'm tempted to just give them a coat of gloss varnish and leave them as they are for fear of making a mess of them.

    Nice

Althought the pic is dark it looks like there is enough varnish shine certainly in the pic that you dont need a catchlight tbh. This might change though depending on lighting. Very well painted all the same.

Thanks Grant, I appreciate you taking the time to comment and confirm pretty much what I was thinking. It's a relief :)

Think I would leave the eyes as they are Roger.

Cheers David, I'm inclined to agree. I think I'll wait 'til the face is completed and take another look then but I suspect they might be ok as is.

    Further work done.

I'll go back over the highlights and then the shadows again today slowly building up the shade of the flesh tones to how I want them.
