Well, I've finally been able to squeeze in a few sessions at the workbench over the last week. Early days yet but I'm calling the czapska and green of the jacket finished and the face is down to the final tweeks. Since the cap and jacket are dark in tone, I've opted for blonde hair as I thought it would be more striking. The hair, cherry red of the jacket, blanket roll, etc are simply undercoated at this point.

Question. would the bugle be carried on a chain or twisted cord? I have a feeling it is cord but would it be white or silver in colour?

Thanks for any advice

Paul

Looking very nice Paul. Particularly like your choice of colour for his oil skin and peak of the Chapska. Flesh and eyes are spiffy too. I also vote white cord.

I've never known a bugle to be carried on a chain, only a cord, but surly a Lancer in Napoleonic times it would be a cavalry type trumpet, ie no valves. Still on a cord though.

Paul, Looking good. Please share with us how you painted the oilskin cover on the czapka?

Thanks for sharing!

Ron, Thanks for the tip on doing the oilskin cover in Artist Oils. I am an Oils painter as well. Don't plan on changing either as heck, I have invested too much in artist oils. Acrylics are not my thing...Hope to keep improving with Artist Oils!

Thanks for your time and efforts, Terry

Great work Paul - especially like the flesh tones on this one. Now it's my turn to be inspired to get back to the bench after a dry spell (read: essay-marking) of almost a month! :(

Cheers,

Brian
