Hi to all. This is one of my latest works. An european arquebusier with pavise, those big shields used at that era by crossbowmen also, and frecuently, richly and artistically decorated.

This one with the dance macabre is conserved in a french museum. The drawing is freehand designed, using the brush directly. The text says, in latin "Homo Fugit Velut Humbra" (The man runs away like a shadow).

The figure is sculpted by Rendall Patton and casted in resin. This kit is no longer available, I think.
    All painted using acrylics.
    All comments welcome.

    Hi Eduardo

I used to own I & E Miniatures and that was one of our best sellers we did an archer that went with it. yes you are right the figure has been out of production for a very long time. I must say you have done a fantastic job on him one of the very best I've seen.

The archer passed through my hands (so to speak) years ago Ian. I always regretted not picking up this piece and this shows why.
If you've still got the moulds maybe now's not a bad time to cast a limited run.
    A beautiful paint job.
    Cheers

    Hi Derek

We sold the masters on a long time ago, but the people that got them never did anything with them which is sad. I still have the master for the archer. we might put him out as you said in a limited run something to think about. if we do it will be under Ellie's Miniatures watch this space.

    Cheers

Thank you Mike, Ian, Derek, Captain Lol and Zane.
I seen some second hand, I&E figures in Ebay for sale, and I´m still tempted to buy some because the quality is very good, in my opinion.
In fact, I bought this to another figure painter from Italy.
Originally, this kits represents a venetian arquebusier, but I made some changes with the painting.

Great work Eduardo, perfect shield and figure!

For my education: where these shields fixed to the ground? I don't see him holding it. Was there no support structure, to counter any impact?

    Cheers,
    Adrian

Thank you very much Adrian, I am glad you like it. If you take a look to the last photo, you can see that the shield is tied to a solid stick nailed to the ground, by a pair of belts. In the same way the pavises often had a tip to nail the shield to the ground.
    Here a pair of examples.(Burgundi)

The shield is truly amazing, such fine work.
