    Hi Kevin

Can't really help much but that halbardier from Berne has the look of a Mike Blank sculpt

They are certainly classic pieces that's why FeR are releasing again ...making many happy

    Hope you get your answer

Original PM's were in white metal:

No1 French Infantry 1870 / No3 Uhlan / No 5 Bavarian Jager/ No 7 Trumpeter Dragons de l'Impératrice are/were all by Derek Hansen for Poste Militaire.

No 2 French Officer 1870 / No 8 Zouave Officer are/ were by Stefano Cannone.

The Swiss and American I'm not sure about, as I don't have them in my grey army.

There was also a Tirailleur Sénégalais, a Prussian Officer and a Bavarian Drummer boy by Cannone, as well as the splendid mounted Cuirassier Officer.

    Cheers,

    Pierre

The Tirailleur Sénégalais was likewise sculpted by Derek Hansen and was an original Poste Militaire sculpt.

I beg to disagree Keith, the Zouave officer (Cannone)on the right is PM too, as is the Bavarian Jäger (Hansen). I keep a logbook of all the figures I finish and I both painted these from original Poste Militaire castings in the brown cardboard packing.

    cheers, Pierre

These are the sheets that came with the kits released by Poste Militaire. All of the black and white ones were sculpted by Derek Hansen - the Zouave Officer and the Officer of the Cuirassiers were done by Stefano Canone (he did another French Infantry Chasseur a pied 1870 in 90mm for Poste Militaire see attachments.). The other kits including the Bavarian Infantry Drummer were released by Elite as new kits of their line.

They were (are!) all superb figures, beautifully cast, and certainly stand the test of time. I've done them all.

You are correct... I heard someone else say that and now that you mention it, it definitely has a MB look to it.

Pierre, Thanks! the mounted officer is on my "holy Grail" list! So, No. 2 and no. 8, although by Cannone, were also Poste Militaires if I understand correctly?

Everyone, THANK YOU! The Uhlan is high on my list of P.M's to acquire. IF anybody knows of someone with the Mounted French officer, ask them to please contact me.. It is a beautiful figure although I've never understood the pose!

Martin, I found the 90mm French Infantry last month in an original Poste Militaire box... a holy grail item that I thought would never show again! The sheets are a great blast from the past! It jarred my memory regarding the trumpeter!

    Regards and respect!

    Hello Kevin,

Both No2 & No8 by Stefano Cannone were done by Poste Militaire.

As for the pose of the mounted figure, it is based on a painting by Edouard Detaille, depicting a famous incident in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870, the charge of the 8ème Cuirassiers in the streets of Morsbronn, where a Lieutenant of Cuirassiers tries to halt the charge of his troops in danger of running into a barricaded narrow street. To give you a better idea, instead of my incoherent rambling, this is the painting by Detaille:

The Bavarian Jäger was definitely a P.M. piece originally.

The Swiss is a halberdier / hornblower of Uri, one of the Swiss Cantons and is by Mike Blank for the original Elite Miniatures. It's a great little figure, beautifully posed but an awkward face to paint.
The somewhat strange uniform reflects the Uri seal and flag of a black bulls head on a field of yellow.
I imagine that such dress would have been too elaborate for an ordinary soldier so a specialist like a hornblower is more likely.
    Cheers
    Derek
