Well, I never knew that! Thanks for the post, Paul. One of my old pals is over there now, on the Ian Fletcher tour, so they'll be at Wavre, Ligny and Quatre Bras today.
I've asked him to bring me back an Eagle[ lapel pin!] and a bottle of "1815" beer. We had some there last year, and it's a lovely brew(y)

    Enjoy the curry:hungry:

If you can get a message over to 'em mate......

I'd like a plate of mixed starters with pickles,
    a beef wellington madras,
    pilau rice,
    double peshwari naan and
    and an 8pdr Cannonbahji

I'm only bloody jealous of 'em.
Ian's tours get great reviews don't they?
I'd settle for just a Leffe Ruby beer right now.:depressed:

:p My pal is a complete non- tecchie; no computer, mobile phone----nuffin'. Mind you, he likes the stuff on PF when he visits! There's a book I wanted him to grab from the Waterloo shop, but I have absolutely no way of contacting him now.

On Saturday the 20th in the town of Kilmarnock, about 7 miles from where I live, they're going to have a contingent of the Scots Greys in appropriate attire, and of course, mounted to commemorate the battle of Waterloo, and the local hero Sgt Ewart who came from Kilmarnock. They'll also be pipe bands and more.

    Fantastic stuff Brian and Ron.
Because I have a model show on Sunday, my son and his foance have just dropped me off at the house, having taken me for a steak dinner, in waterloo liverpool.
They asked mto take them round these buildings and show them around. I did so and he said this is an appropriate place. Dad, please have this.

No offense meant Paul, but I think the people of Waterloo Liverpool were taking the piss:LOL:. Here's a couple of photos of the real thing I took in 2009.

Hahaha no they weren't taking the piss but I always knew they ha dit wrong.
I only found out recently the gut went bankrupt before it was complete. So it was a folly in more than one way.
Also, you know how badly wrong the victorians got most things. I bet someone had skeyched out how they remembered the layout and got it wrong in the first place.
Too be fair, there is an archway !
    Hahaha
My trip there this year was cancelled because my son's moved house and we are going to go together... Whenever !
    All the best

The event was superb notwithstanding some very poor organisational problems on the site. Waterloo beer flowed freely and even an old cynic of a Bonapartist like me felt a tinge of pride as Land of Hope and Glory blared out over the fireworks at the Light and Sound show. The actual battle took place on a square kilometre of ground (where D'Erlon's attack took place) so it was difficult to get close up pics However I hope you like these pics which show what it might have looked like from the Grand Battery ridge.
