    Not yet, but nearly, Colin...

I have to paint the "unvisible side", the boots, the sabre, the coat and the cap...
And after that there is a base to be made...

    Cheers

Now the boots of our Cossacks on the list!
The color of these boots is all about everything , green, red , even yellow !
However, only two colors come for my Cossacks seriously into consideration : Leather " natural " or black.
Since I have boots from " natural leather " already in my collection (the " thick red Cossack " after Repin painting , see gallery) are now black the boots of Andy Kozak .
    I've used these colors to ... :
These boots were originally very soft and comfortable , not as hard as today's riding boots - I have endeavored to show that, as I have deep wrinkles as possible and very high lights painted .
The first boot page has become just finished ... :
You could still increase the effect by placing one or a few targeted high lights to the pure white - but then would the boots look like "shiny" and " cleaned ", what I want to avoid ...

Today I covered the boot with two very thin dark brown glazes, witt this color...:

The pretty monotonous "Black Grey" now goes one direction eating brown and makes it some more interesting and also it were "alive" ...

Tomorrow I will continue with the second boot.

If you look closely, you can see at the rear (on the photo) boot for comparison the effect of the dark brown glazes ...

We come to the next detail - the saber ...

There were different models , seriously come into consideration for a Cossack that time , however, only two types:

First of all , the Ottoman " Karabela " saber ( " Karabela " = Ottoman " Black Death " ), a heavy saber with the typical eagle head ...

The "Karabela" has been improved in Poland-Lithuania and was worn frequently by Cossacks that time ... :

But I fell back on my favorite saber, the also Ottoman Type " Pala " ... :

Such a saber also bears the " fat red Cossack " on the famous painting by Ilja Repin ... :

The "Pala " saber was an evolution of the - also Ottoman - type " Kilich " or " Kilitsch ", with an improved at the lower end - stable - blade.

Here "Kilitch " ( above) and " Pala " saber blade in comparison ... :

At the " Pala " I especially like the typical pistol- grip and the very broad , but very filigree guard !

A " Karabela " type (see above) may not look as elegant as a "Pala" ! For that a " Pala -Saber" I had Andy proposed - and he has also made him !

My version had unfortunately made the journey from New Zealand halfway around the world not without prejudice - a part of the guard was broken in the package ... :

I had the whole thing so justly ground when serging that it is not noticed so ... :

But it WAS noticed by the creator of the figure, Andy, who closely watched my work in the forum!
Without being asked - only after he had seen my saber on a photo - Andy sent me even a spare saber where the guard was completely ... :

This I call, really great service ! Thanks Andy!

Now I had the thing only cut off without break from the very tight sprue block.

Again I have fixed a pin wire to the tip of a soldering iron ...

The part was cut with heat - go through Resin as through butter .

Now the cut-out saber is in front of me - and I have "only" to clean it without break anything ...:

Today, the small sword is cleaned - and I before this point here ...

... I had really a little jitters because I had to work directly on the very thin guard here .

Fortunately, however, everything has gone off without breaking - here the original piece and the new part in a direct comparison ... :

Then the sword comes into the ultrasonic bath ...

... is then rinsed in clean water , dried and mounted on a toothpick ...

    ... and finally primed.

Then I painted it with these colors - an orgy of silver and brass ... :

In contrast to the " magnificent " metal parts has been reached with these colors ...

    ...simple brown painted .

Here is the ready weapon ... :
