My friend Bob Clidinst passed away this past March, a few weeks ago one of his sons gave me a box with some figures inside. These were some Valiant miniatures figures that Bob made the Masters for years ago, Bob only did a few masters as his main interest was auto racing. One of these figures Shep mentioned in his book, the 90mm figure of Rommel. So the other night I am looking at these figures again and I finally take a closer look at a figure that I thought was resin but turned out to be yellowed styrene. It turns out that this was one of Bob's unfinished 54mm masters, CARVED from a block of laminated sheet styrene! Someone asked him once (possibly Shep) why he did it the hard way to which Bob replied "it's the only way I know how" . Bob was a gifted and self taught artist, I am very grateful to have this to remember my friend by.
