I was surprised too, hoping for a Union soldier as well.

I was starting to worry about Alpine. They'd been very quiet in 1/16 of late.

Very Cool Release! And will be well accepted:) Kudos to Alpine for tapping into this historical period! Although much has been done over the years, still a lot of regiments left to address. Like this release very much. Thanks for posting it(y)

Yep! I noticed. In fact, as the sculptor it was deliberate. Like much Confederate equipment, the belt is a "captured" or liberated Union item.

Thanks to everybody for the nice compliments! If you want to see more figures like it from Alpine, buy this one.....

    Cheers!!

Was just gonna post "captured belt" but the Maestro himself pointed out the accuracy. I'll buy one.

Because of a lack of equipment later in the war, belts taken from Union soldiers were turned upside down. I can't remember the story behind this fact someone else may do.

As soon as I saw the figure I was going to ask if this is a Mike Good sculpt and you have just answered it for me.
Excellent sculpt as usual Mike and nice to see Alpine Miniatures venture out in the 1/16 scale figures.
    Cheers

This was done more early in the war as well as most state units had the US issue belts. They turned them upside down and referred to the sn as "Southern Nation".

Fantastic figure indeed ...i hope that Alpine with Mike Good could realise in near future some fine american civil war figures in 54mm......i am sure they could be very popular in market figures!!!

    Congratulation Mike.
