Moving swiftly along, Fusilier 14 is ready for the wet stuff.
    Here's where we left him
    Fusilier 14.jpg
And here’s how he looks now.

I'm not so sure about how the chin scales would hang with the shako upside down like this- I reasoned they are more flexible inwards (around the face) than outwards, but if anyone has any information to the contrary I will be happy to change it.
So on with the paint - I much prefer painting these guys individually rather than in batches as it means I take a bit more care...!

    Another excellent animation.

Not sure either, but I agree with your logic given the way the chinscales were constructed.

Commitment, dedication, vision and countless hours above the bench. How could this be anything but gorgeous?Looking forward for the final result. The global stash of Airfix figures is running low anyway and since Airfix itself has not decided to release these figures anew ,very soon you are going to run out of new fusiliers (you have sigle handedly wiped out the entire global stash for these figures;)).

    Well thank you kindly,sir!
I agree about the global supply of these figures drying up but I don't think there's much of a market for them. I watch them on eBay all the time and people don't pay high prices for them ( I certainly don't), and I'm absolutely not looking for any more Fusiliers! Maybe airfix have got it right?

    You're a wicked man,Nap,!
Anyway 16 is the number of fusiliers, you forgot about the officer and the deuxieme Porte Aigle, so that makes 18 OMG!

Well a couple of weeks’ break turned into 5 months! But after a spell in the trenches with my Tommy's War Motorcycle , a LOT of 3D printing bits for people, wedding preparations for my son and now an actual private commission (I'm making an architecture model for a local architect), I’ve got the urge to get back into French dark blue, and hopefully the final furlongs of this marathon
I dug out fusiliers 15 and 16 and decided the reason I had paused was that I wasn’t really sold on their poses.
Here’s where we left fusilier 15

    Fusilier 15 (2).jpg

    And this is him now

    Fusilier 15(3).jpg

I was even less inspired with Fusilier 16, so he has gone from this

    Fusilier 16 (1).jpg

    To this

    Fusilier 16(4).jpg

So here we go again, and I've got another furry pack to do-JOY!
I still don't really know what I'm going to do for the final composition, although I think it might be interesting to have them facing slightly uphill at the Scots Greys thundering down towards them.
Thanks everyone for sticking with this for two and a half years (OMG), and welcome to any newcomers to the party!
    Cheers

Wow drastic changes to the fusiliers, the standing firing position is a difficult one due to the twists one has to adopt, especially with a weapon that has a lot of recoil. Going to take time a read through properly as this is really interesting with all the conversions.

    Cheers Simon

Good to see this back on the bench, and it's good to see a (much) slower builder than me.....;)

Great idea! Now all you need to do is convert three or four Scots Greys to represent the charge.....:)

Thanks everyone for the kind comments- much appreciated.
I’ve done a bit more to our guys. They’ve been filled and filed and fettled and are now ready for the detailing of buttons and piping etc.
    fusilier 15(4).jpg

Fusilier 15 has all of his kit already and I have made a start with fusilier 16’s pack-I couldn’t face another session with the heated knife so I wimped out and used the green stuff instead.

    Fusilier 16 (7).jpg

It was marginally less effort but more difficult to control, we’ll have to see how it looks painted, but I’m bloody well not doing it again!
That’s all for now- thanks for following

    Hi Neil

Nice to see this progressing ,pack looks good using putty ...saves burns or cutting yourself with a heated knife

Look forward to seeing more on this fascinating project

    Happy benchtime
