Ok, massive setback yesterday... after getting all the chores done, ie pool is prepped for summer - I'm the pool boy, and cleaning the solar panels - I'm also the roof guy, I dusted off the airbrush ready to start throwing paint, only to discover that the thing is not working. Yep, we moved house two years ago and it's been in storage for that time, now that our place is (near) complete - we built, I located box with said item and went to set up in a quite corner of the garage - my workbench isn't set up yet... and nothing. I don't know whether it's been dropped or get wet along the way, I lost a few figures and kits in the move, but I need to replace it. Thankfully my Tamiya HG spray gun was in its box.

    Not happy. At all.

Do you think I could start a give a little page, you know, for marital aids, because it keeps me occupied?

Bummer on the AB, that bites! Good thing the Tamiya rig is there.

And in a bizzare twist that falls into the "you couldn't make this up" category, after the red mist receded and I'd reconciled myself to spending 250$ on a new airbrush, and waiting a week for it to be delivered, my father in law (shorthand Fa.i.l.) comes home from two weeks in America (they live on the property), asks what I was doing as I was at the kitchen table having a coffee and looking at a paperweight in the shape of an airbrush, when he says, 'I have one of those'. I'm groaning internally as I can only image what it is he has somewhere in a shed... but lo! He does have a Tamiya airbrush sitting unused in the shed. I almost fell over. I spent a big time cleaning it, but sure enough, this morning I was spraying paint.

Not fishing for compliments here, the camo is 10% dark green over 20% mid brown on khaki tan, but I think the base, Tamiya deck tan, is too close to the brown to be accurate. This was what I've been working off for pattern and colour...

I may start again with a lighter base.

Not an easy camouflage to paint, I would say just darken the mid brown but I reckon that would be next door to impossible, still looks pretty good as it is and remember after some hard use and lots of washing colours fade.

Thanks, Simon. It colour looks different in direct sunlight to the image, which is not helping. I'll continue to work on it.

Wife wants brakes checked on her push bike, I said I was a little behind and it'll be ready Tuesday. She wants impressed.

    Hi

What a story of despair only to be resolved by a true gent .....and a nice result on the camo so a big thumbs from me

I'd go and offer to " tidy " up the Fa.i.l shed if I were you ....might be some other gems in there

Look forward to seeing more on this

    Have FUN @ the bench

Ok. Firstly a bit of proofreading required looking back over my previous posts, what an amateur. I wasn't happy with the base colour as too close to the brown camo, and repainted the figure in a 1:1 mix of deck tan and wooden deck tan, and am much happier. Now for some progress images:

Looking closely, I must have had oil or similar on my fingers when holding the figure (I do use gloves), as just below the pouch above the right hip, I've managed to remove some paint. No worries, I'm home tonight and can work on it then.

All part of the process bro. Looking good so far. This is a big figure so it will show every damn thing. Part of the ch. Continue with the good work.

I'm not too fussed as that part of the shirt needs another colour, which I can apply by brush & cover that over.
