    Hi All,

Just finish this vignette for coming Euro. I am experimenting various new painting style. This I would call it "Atmospheric" painting. What I would like to communicate here is not only the story and figures but also the surrounding and timing of the particular moment. Here as you can see it is more directional lighting - how the wall, ground, figure uniforms, street lights, helmets etc... all reflected from the street light source carefully plan and executed trying to achieve a homogeneous light source to convince viewer to believe it is at night and can be view from all angles with same effect. Hope my result is meeting my 1st step of where I am venturing in the future. Of course all comments and critiques always welcome for further improvements.

    Hello Allan:

Good luck at Euro, Allan. Beautiful images, excellent photography. You
are one fine artist, Allan. Such beautiful control of graduation from light to
dark, in all area. That masonry wall behind the two GIs is super. That one
part alone, IMHO, . . is definitely worth the price of admission.

Very fine work. . . congrats,

It actually does give the impression that the light is real and not just painted, a very hard thing to achieve i would have thought but you pulled this of very well, i am going to look forward to more stuff from you in the future if they are going along these lines.

    Outstanding work!
With control of the lighting, as in the photos, you've effectively created a box diorama without the box. It will be interesting to see if the impact is the same when the piece is sitting on the table, under lighting that cannot be controlled. I hope it still conveys the sense of darkness, light source and mood.
Thanks for sharing the progress of this piece with us. Many painters have played with light - you seem to be offering a new approach. Great concept, and great execution.

    Allan,

Seriously good that, second time today you crafty painters have fooled me, thought there was a light source in that lamp, I'll join the rest trying to view it at Euro.

    Thanks guys...

Dear all - thanks for the comment and reaally glad that your all like this experiment...

Hi Don - the lightning that cannot be control if put in different angle will post a slight issue but given the actual piece is quite dark in color, mostly it get away..pls let me know the feedback when you see it in life. Thanks
