Hi to one and all ,

Modellers who like the futuristic subjects continue to be catered for by Nuts Planet in their Trigger series of figures .

So what have I got on my review bench , a survivor of a desolation of the world as we know it patrolling the streets that are littered with debris from destruction of buildings and the previous normal lifestyle .
A time where the only way to survive is to be armed to the teeth with weapons and equipment , very carefully looking round the street corners never knowing whats going to be found ...a marauding gang of aliens or terror gangs.

This is what we have in this release an advance guard gingerly edging up to the corner of a street.

We were notified of the release here : http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/trigger-s-new-release-of-november.81321/

I present to you :

Details of the release

Title: Advance Guard

Reference: T75011

Scale: 75mm(1/24th)

Material: Gray Resin

No of pieces: 16

Sculptor ( Figure ) : Joo Heum Yoon

Sculptor ( Base) : Ki Yeol Yoon

Box Art: Ki Yeol Yoon

As you can see this is number 11 in the scale and adds another very interesting character to the series.

Sculpting is by 2 skilled artists namely Joo Heum Yoon & Ki Yeol Yoon both very talented so it was in anticipation that I opened the box up .

As always the box presentation is the blue cardboard one with the colour box art on the top and various views on the side.

Parts were packed again as with all of Nuts Planet releases in bags where needed and sandwiched between foam layers and pieces of foam due to the groundwork shapes .

Prep is minimal needing only removal of carefully located casting plugs all very easy to deal with .

Parts consist of 8 pieces of the base consisting of the flooring /steps , back wall , aircon unit , 2 parts to a pallet , a piping section, a surveillance camera and fitting bracket and a wire for the electrics.

We then have the main figure , 2 arms , the head the head vision goggles , 2 weapons , a rifle and a dagger.
Nuts Advance 003.jpg

In this part I will look at the base pieces , as with all the series the base work shows a great deal of thought and this one is no different , we have steps , a louvred piece of walling , a wall mounted figure camera and debris in the shape of a wooden pallet .....
All adding a great opportunity for the painter to really enjoy the sculpting and the pieces.
We are given a lot of high quality cast resin in the box with the base parts being very well formed and all showing excellent details

Lets look at the pieces

The Steps

We have a 3 stepped piece leading to the main flooring , very sharply worked with knocks and damage sculpted to the edges , I have really tried to find blemishes on this but the resin is so smooth its a real pleasure to hold and enjoy .

The side of the steps is angled with 2 locating holes ready to have the back wall fitted ...NO filler is needed ..a perfect fit .

Back Wall

This is perfectly angles at the base to fit to the steps , brickwork details are excellent with pipe work being cast on this is nicely shown and looks good , at the top we have a baseplate to fit the camera to .
The back also consists of a further piece of walling this time with a louvred air vent on it , these are really good and as with the main wall the fit is simple and again no filler will be needed .

The end result is a very impressive base and back walling .

Camera

Consisting of 3 parts .....the actual camera the bracket and the electrics ( the wiring)
All pieces are a good version , fitting of the bracket might be a little fiddly but the end result will be a great piece of interesting base work

Pallet

This is 2 pieces which has good textures and fits together really well , looks good and is another opportunity for the painter to really go to town with weathering ..have a look at the box art for an example.

Now to the remaining pieces ...the figure parts

Main Figure

This consists of the full figure less arms and head , this guy is taking no chances , loaded up with a mass of webbing under which we have a flak type vest , pouches, holster, surround the torso with the legs being also loaded up with pouches the left thigh has a holder containing darts or maybe throwing knives .

As always the undercuts of the webbing , strapping and details are really nicely worked and with the lower legs posed as moving down the stairs its a powerful figure in its own right.

The collar area is sculpted with it up with the neck area ready to take the head itself , the arms are also given the same excellent fitting method of a good clean cut out .

The legs have both knee and shin protectors being worn these are nicely done one of the knee pads has a knock on it after use no doubt.

Trousers are held close to the body with all the equipment being worn over the boots themselves , these are heavy working boots with good show in respect the laces and the tread on the undersides.

Arms

These continue in the same high quality as the main figure , fit is great and easy to achieve , these arms have upper and lower protectors being worn good sculpting all the way .
Nuts Advance 016.jpgNuts Advance 024.jpg

The left hand holds what could be a stun grenade ( another is ready in amongst his webbing )
Nuts Advance 026.jpgNuts Advance 025.jpg
The right has a pistol , again well detailed and another weapon to his needed armoury , ideal for the close quarter warfare he is involved in.

Head/Vision attachment/Knife

This is helmeted with a high vision bino's strapping attachment , maybe night vision as well , again details are very good as is the fit , the face itself is almost all covered by a mask with just the eyes showing .
the helmet is a good shape and again the straps are sculpted very naturally .

Nuts Advance 023.jpg
The fit of the attachment will be a little tricky mainly because its a small part these again are nicely done and in place looks really well , I would suggest painting the flesh work before you fit this
Nuts Advance 031.jpg
The knife is similar to a K bar type looks the parts and fits to the left of the torso , looking good when in position .

Rifle

This is a high powered version very nicely shaped with a open stock , good trigger details , the magazine is loaded , excellent barrel surface details with the back sight being again a well sculpted addition.

Fit is to the ends of the strp on the right side of the figure .

Final thoughts

This is without doubt a real good addition to the series , and works well with any of the athers , sculpting and casting is well up to the very high standard of Nuts Planet .
The series itself offers a really good opportunity to get some really interesting scenes in your display cabinet and more importantly enjoy both the skill of the sculptor and of course the bench time

A pleasure to recommend this

This is an interesting figure with possibilities as to setting. I may consider adding it to my gray army. Great review as always!
